Tonsina Creek, Lowell Point, Alaska

Tonsina creek is a short 1.5 mile hike from the parking lot at the Lowell Point State Recreation Site. The creek empties into Resurrection Bay. The views of the bay are spectacular to say the least.

The chum and pink salmon go up into the creek to spawn in July. Once in the creek you are unable to legally fish for them. It's not unusual to see hundreds of fish in the clear water of the creek spawning.

The beach is loaded with driftwood that comes up with each tide. It's a great place to camp for a few days.
